About Solo

Surakarta, more commonly known as Solo or Sala in Indonesia, is a city in Central Java located near Yogyakarta. As both cities share the same roots and history from the former Mataram Islam Kingdom, they have similar traditions, language, art, and heritage. While Solo may be relatively new to Indonesia’s tourism scene and not yet widely explored, it still offers plenty of attractions worth discovering.

How to Go to Solo

You can easily reach Solo by air if you are traveling from a distant location. Flights will take you to Adisumarmo International Airport, Solo’s main airport. However, if you are coming from a nearby city like Yogyakarta, taking a train is the most affordable option. For an even cheaper alternative, you can travel by bus, such as from Jakarta to Solo (approximately 10 hours) or from Surabaya (around 5 hours).

Place to Visit in Solo

Talking about things to do in Solo, Indonesia, one cannot miss watching a Wayang Wong performance, exploring traditional markets, and shopping for affordable batik. You can also visit Keraton Surakarta or take a short trip to the nearby regencies to enjoy the natural beauty. Here is a list of activities to do in Surakarta.

Taste Solo culinary

Solo offers a variety of unique culinary delights that you must try, such as Buntel Satay, Nasi Liwet, and the city's iconic Serabi Solo. Both local and international tourists often line up to taste this special treat. Don’t forget to explore other street food options at more affordable prices
